“We demand rigidly defined areas of doubt and uncertainty!”

One of the great joys of coaching is how each conversation expands my own thinking. I was recently gifted a prompt to revisit The Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams by a client for whom this book had formed the basis of a powerful mental model.

This quote made me smile and reflect in equal measure, and led me to a new term: ‘standardisation fallacy’ in this Nature article
